From Antananarivo, via Ranomafana, Manakara and Farafangana, this tour will plunge you into the East and South East of Madagascar, with an extension in the South West. You will discover among other things the famous road of bac + 10 where muddy tracks and rivers punctuate the journey, from Vangaindrano to Fort Dauphin. From there, the wild and natural beauty of the deep south, with a passage to Berenty lemur paradise and Lavanono, kitesurfing spot known worldwide. The circuit in detail

DAY 1: ANTANANARIVO – RANOMAFANA
Departure very early in the morning to reach Ranomafana before dark. Stop at Antsirabe for lunch. Arrival at the end of the evening in Ranomafana.
DAY 2: RANOMAFANA NATIONAL PARK
Put on your hiking boots and raincoat and set off to discover the Ranomafana National Park, the Mecca of Malagasy biodiversity. Allow 3 to 4 hours to explore this large and lush tropical forest. An opportunity to discover and observe during half a day lemurs endemic, orchids, exotic birds and a whole panoply of medicinal plants. After lunch, a relaxing moment in the spa center of Ranomafana. You will swim in a swimming pool fed by hot spring water. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3: RANOMAFANA – MANAKARA
Early departure for Manakara. The landscape is characteristic of the eastern rain. Houses made from the « ravinala », or « the traveler’s tree », follow the road. Along the way, we will see coffee trees and all kinds of fruit trees, endemic to the east coast of the country. Picnic lunch en route. Arrival late afternoon in Manakara. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4: MANAKARA - FARAFANGANA
After breakfast, we immediately take the road to Farafangana through Vohipeno, the ancient capital Antemoro. An adventure trip along the National Route 12 awaits us, with beautiful green landscapes. Stop on the way to admire or buy basketry. Arrival in Farafangana at the end of the day. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 5: FARAFANGANA – SANDRAVINANY
Early departure for Vangaindrano through the green landscapes of the East Coast. This stage is commonly known as the bac + 10 road. In fact, the trip will have 8 to 10 ferry crossings with all the surprises that this entails. On the way, try to make the most of the calm of each place and get plenty of fresh air. In addition, each passage that punctuates the course is a unique opportunity to make emotional encounters with a population eager for exchanges and contacts. Short breaks for taking pictures are possible along the way. Arrival at Sandravinany in the afternoon.
DAY 6: SANDRAVINANY - MANANTENINA
We continue the road to Manantenina, located at the edge of the river Manampanihy. The somewhat remote place is best known for its mineral wealth. Now, it is the typical landscapes of the east coast that are offered to us: lush vegetation, rice paddies … 4 tank passes punctuate this stage. Arrival in Manantenina, where we will spend the night in a bush lodge or in a tent.
DAY 7: MANANTENINA - FORT-DAUPHIN
The departure for Fort-Dauphin is very early. Count 5 passages of different bins over more than 100 kilometers. Picnic lunch along the way. Arrival at Fort Dauphin in the afternoon. Take advantage of your free time to go around the city or stroll a little side of the sea. The beaches of Fort-Dauphin, and the sweetness of this city are like a reward for the dust accumulated on the way from Farafangana and you will make you forget fatigue. Night at the hotel.
DAY 8: FORT-DAUPHIN – BERENTY
Early departure for the Berenty private reserve, located 86 kilometers from Fort Dauphin. This track trip will last 2h 30 to 3 hours of time and will allow to understand the characteristics of the Antanosy country: cassava culture, rice fields, lush landscapes with a strong presence of Nepenthes, carnivorous plant feeding mainly on insects and a climate more hot and humid. Crossing the sisal plantations before arriving at Berenty. Visit of the reserve in the afternoon. This is one of the best places to watch lemurs in their natural habitat. It is a true open-air scientific laboratory, which is a delight for naturalists around the world. Even Bill Gates, the boss of Microsoft, did not resist this place, during his lightning passage in Madagascar in 2014. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 9: BERENTY – LAVANONO
This stage includes 215 kilometers of distance that must be completed in 6 hours on the track. The start will be very early in the morning. Along the way, you will notice the striking contrast of the landscapes. The dense sun of the Great South will now be replaced by the oceanic climate of the East. Meetings with local people will leave you with the most intense memories. Arrival in Lavanono at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10: LAVANONO – ITAMPOLO
Get ready to complete more than 6 hours of track driving between Lavanono and Itampolo. On the way, you will cross small fishing villages, huge sisal plantations, Cape St. Mary or Park Andohahela. The landscape will be marked by the presence of drought-resistant flora, including aloe and spurge. Do not miss to immortalize in photos your most beautiful moments lived along this picturesque road. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 11: ITAMPOLO – ANAKAO
Early departure towards Anakao. We will have to make more than 139 kilometers of tracks in 3 hours of time. En route, discover the beautiful examples of the funerary art of southern Madagascar and the majestic baobabs. Arrival in Anakao late afternoon.
DAY 12: ANAKAO
Anakao is near the Tropic of Capricorn, about 38 km from Toliara. This place with wild and picturesque landscapes, has everything to seduce. On the program of the day: visit the typical and authentic village of the Vezo tribe. Then relax and swim in the turquoise lagoon. Anakao is also a beautiful dive spot. Explore at your ease the underwater flora and fauna of the region. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 13: ANAKAO - NOSY VE AND SATRANA
After breakfast, embark for Nosy Ve or Nosy Satrana located about 5 kilometers off Anakao. An exceptional day combining whale watching, fishing and swimming awaits you there. Picnic lunch on the sandy beach and in a heavenly setting. Back to Anakao in the middle of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 14: ANAKAO – TOLIARA
After breakfast, transfer by boat to Toliara. Free afternoon. City tour. Night at the hotel. Opportunity to visit the Arboretum of Antsokay, containing a summary of the fauna and flora of the Southwest.
DAY 15: TOLIARA – RANOHIRA
This stage will take us through a landscape of thorny vegetation characteristic of the South, and we will also discover the famous tombs Mahafaly. Passage to Ilakaka, famous for its sapphire. Arrival at Ranohira at the gateway to the Isalo National Park. Installation, dinner and overnight at the hotel
DAY 16: RANOHIRA – ISALO
After breakfast, departure for a day trip to the Isalo National Park. We will take the circuit leading to the Nymphs waterfall and the blue and black pools with clear and natural water. Bathing highly recommended. Then, we will follow the circuit of Namaza for a visit in the canyons. Picnic lunch. Return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
DAY 17: RANOHIRA - AMBOSITRA
Crossing the city of Ihosy and the desert plateau of Ihorombe. Stop at Fianarantsoa then continue on the road to Ambositra. Night at the hotel
DAY 18: AMBOSITRA – ANTSIRABE
We leave Ambositra, capital of the crafts, to join, spa town very famous in Madagascar. Crossing a mountainous region, and villages with sunken rice terraces below. Arrival in Antsirabe at the end of the afternoon. Installation, dinner and overnight at the hotel
DAY 19: ANTSIRABE – ANTANANARIVO
Early departure for Antanarivo, last leg of our trip. Arrival expected at the beginning of the afternoon.
